Elder, Dennis A. Lenley began his spiritual journey as a member of Wright Temple C.O.G.I.C., located at 2500 Mersington, Kansas City, MO for over 20 years. He also served as the acting pastor for about eighteen months.
The Lord then led him to open the doors of Holy Deliverance C.O.G.I.C. in his home basement at 3526 Benton Blvd., Kansas City, MO. There were twelve original members. Elder Lenley had one green and white van that he used to transport all the members to and from services.
In spring of 1981, the Lord led Elder Lenley to move the church to 3306 Brooklyn, Kansas City, MO. In this locationl the Lord continued to bless and add to the church. Holy Deliverance was located at 33rd and Brooklyn for four and a half years. The size of this storefront was 18 feet by 20 feet.
Again, the Lord led Elder Lenley to seek a larger location for Holy Deliverance C.O.G.I.C.. The old "Mason and Plaster Tenders Local 55" building, located at 3026 E. 21st, Kansas City, MO was the place that the Holy Spirit placed strongly on Elder Lenley's mind, but financially, it seemed impossible.
The Lord later led Deacon M. D. Johnson and Assistant State Sunday School Superintendent, Elder B. Butler to Eld. Lenley and informed him that the building could now be purchased for $34,000.00 less than the original realtors price. The "Mason an Plaster Tenders Building was then purchased for the new location of the Holy Deliverance C.O.G.I.C.
